The Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Palestine Branch, represented by An-Najah National University, headed by Dr. Mona Al-Damidi, and the two students Buthaina Qatina and Masa Qazih - graduates of An-Najah University - and ambassadors of the Global Leadership Competition in Palestine, received the award for the best entrepreneurial event and the best entrepreneurial ambassadors out of 67 ambassadors on Middle East, Africa and Europe level, as evaluated by IEEE Region 8.
The student branch achieved this achievement after participating in the IEEE PIONEERS 2.0 competition, which was held in its second edition for the second time in a row in Palestine, to compete with young entrepreneurial ideas within the activities of the International Entrepreneurship Week.
The competition was held in two stages in Palestine after the completion of a series of training exercises for participants by experts at the level of Palestine and the Arab world. 17 teams from 7 Palestinian universities in the West Bank and Gaza were qualified to compete at the level of Palestine before an expert jury from the public, private and governmental sectors. To qualify 3 teams to compete on behalf of Palestine for the third stage at the world level in one of the prestigious international IEEE conferences.
Regarding this achievement, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of An-Najah National University, expressed his happiness with this victory, which is a source of pride for the university and the nation. He praised the pioneering and serious efforts made by the students and supervisors to carry out creative activities and organize qualitative events and initiatives. As a culmination of these efforts, the branch deserved this high rank among all branches at the level of the Middle East, Africa and Europe. His happiness affirmed the university’s support for its students and supervisors and encouraged them to participate in various local, Arab and international competitions. Dr. expressed. Dhamidi expressed her pride in this achievement, which confirms the vision of promising youth capable of making change, establishing the name of Palestine on the world map, and representing it honorably in various Arab, regional and international forums. She thanked the university administration for the continued support of the association’s branch and other student associations, unions and branches.
The Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is considered a global association with branches in most countries of the world and student branches in universities. The association’s branch in Palestine is distinguished by its activity and effectiveness at the country and world levels, as the association’s members have participated over the years in various international conferences in Brazil, Dubai, Portugal, Turkey, Malaysia, and other countries.
The IEEE Palestine Branch supports the student branches of the association in various Palestinian universities to benefit students in various specializations, not just engineering, and to contribute to raising the quality of education through courses, workshops, community activities, and participation in global activities such as the IEEEXtreme competition.
