Asim Khalil, an Al-Shabaka Policy Member, holds the prestigious Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Chair in Constitutional and International Law at Birzeit University. With a distinguished academic career, Khalil has served in various leadership roles at Birzeit University, including Vice President for Community Affairs (2016-2020), Dean of the Faculty of Law and Public Administration (2012-2015), and Director of the Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute for International Studies (2010-2012).
Khalil's educational background includes a doctorate in public law from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, a master’s degree in public administration from the National School of Administration in France, and a doctorate in civil and canon law from the Lateran University in Italy. He has enriched his scholarly pursuits as a visiting scholar at New York University School of Law (2009-2010 and 2015-2016) and the Max Planck Institute in Germany (summer 2015).
