Information

Nazem Shafiq Atallah Al-Ghabra ( 1923 - October 23 , 2009 ), a Kuwaiti cardiologist of Palestinian origin . He was born in Haifa , Palestine , and died in Kuwait .

His beginnings 

He was a resident of Haifa in Palestine  , and his father gave him the choice between giving him the money he had allocated for him to complete his university studies or opening a store for him and working with him in trade, but he refused and decided to study medicine.  He left Palestine after the Israeli occupation, heading to Lebanon , and studied at the American University of Beirut , and was one of the youngest doctors to graduate from it, specializing in cardiology. In the late fifties, he obtained the British Royal Medical Fellowship. 

After graduating in 1946 , he returned to Haifa and began helping the wounded in the 1948 war , but after the war he found himself with thousands who had been displaced from Palestine, and he moved to Lebanon and became the main breadwinner for his family consisting of his mother, four sisters and his father who had lost his entire business, and then he settled in Cairo. 

His going to Kuwait 

He left for Iraq to work as a doctor in the Iraq Petroleum Company  , then after the Nakba he went to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , and then in 1952 to Kuwait , where he lived his entire life.  He left on a Kuwaiti medical mission to Britain consisting of seven doctors  where he was the accompanying doctor to Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah since the fifties and had a strong relationship with Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah , and he was one of the medical personnel participating in the treatment of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah in 1965.

His medical clinic became famous in the seventies and eighties of the twentieth century in Kuwait, and after the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion , he opened his medical clinic on the second day to receive patients in the Abdullah Al-Salem suburb . 

He worked at Hadi Hospital until he was seventy-nine years old and then retired.
