Musa Hadid (March 13, 1965 in Ramallah -) is a Palestinian engineer who served as the mayor of Ramallah between 2012 and 2022 on two terms. He chairs the Palestinian Federation of Palestinian Local Authorities for the second consecutive session.

 

Childhood and educational attainment

Musa Hadid was born in 1965 in Ramallah. In 1993, he graduated from Birzeit University with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Hadid's political career began when he joined the student movement during his student years at Birzeit University. With the outbreak of the first Palestinian Intifada, he was arrested by the Israeli occupation.

2012 local council elections

 

In October 2012, local elections were held in the Palestinian territories, where three electoral blocs ran for mayor of Ramallah. The Abnaa al-Balad bloc was headed by Hadid, and won 8 out of 15 seats.

 

2017 local council elections

 

In May 2017, Hadid again ran for local council elections, as he headed the Abnaa al-Balad bloc, one of the four competing blocs. The bloc also won eight of the 15 seats.
