His biography
Hammam Mahmoud Al-Louh was born in Gaza on April 26, 1987. He received his primary and secondary education in Gaza schools, then he joined the Faculty of Medicine at Sana’a University and graduated from it in 2011, after which he specialized in internal diseases and kidneys in Jordan with a medical scholarship from the Qatar Red Crescent Program for Specialized Medical Scholarships. He won first place in the Arab , Jordanian and Palestinian Boards in Kidney Diseases and was appointed at Jordan Hospital as a kidney specialist in 2018. After that, he returned to Gaza to be the only kidney doctor in the Strip. He was one of the Qatar Red Crescent consultants who contributed to implementing the “Specialized Surgical Operations for Poor Patients in Gaza” project.
On November 12, 2023, Israeli Air Force raids targeted his wife’s family’s house next to Al-Shifa Hospital, and he was martyred along with his father, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. His last message before his martyrdom was when American journalist Amy Goodman asked him why he did not leave the hospital to a safe place in the south, and his response was: “If I leave, who will treat the patients? They are human beings who deserve health care , not animals.”
Holly Cairns, leader of the Social Democratic Party in Ireland , posted about Al-Louh's recent interview in an Irish parliamentary debate.
It is noteworthy that Al-Louh’s mother, Haifa Al-Sarraj, who also works as a doctor, is still trapped with his wife, his two five- and four-year-old children, and other relatives, including children, in the vicinity of the house.
