Considered one of Jaffa's notables. A successful Mayor of Jaffa. His close friendship with Raghib al-Nashashibi, the leader of apposition in Palestine, placed 'Asim in the opposition camp. 'Asim died towards the end of WWI , i.e. few years before the disaster.
