Salah al-Din Haidar Mohi al-Din Abdel Shafi (born August 29 , 1962 in Gaza ) is a Palestinian economist and diplomat . He was the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Sweden , and later to Germany , and currently holds the position of Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Austria and Permanent Observer to the United Nations in Vienna , [1] And the non-resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Slovenia , [2] and Croatia . His father was the Palestinian political leader Haider Abdel Shafi .
His life
In 2005, he was appointed Commissioner of the State of Palestine to Sweden , and in 2006 he presented his credentials and continued in the position until 2010, [3] when on August 18, 2010 he became Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Germany until 2013.
On October 1, 2013, he was appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Austria , [5] and on October 24, 2013, he presented his credentials to the Austrian President.
On October 17, 2014, Abdel Shafi presented his credentials as a non-resident ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia to the President of the Republic, as he is considered the first Palestinian ambassador after the Republic lifted Palestinian diplomatic representation there.
On 15 October 2021, he handed over his credentials to the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman as Non-Resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Croatia.
