Ali Al-Qazq (born 1947 in Haifa ) is a Palestinian political diplomat . He is the Managing Director of Southern Link International, a business, investment consulting and public relations firm. He is the founder of the Australian Arab Affairs Council and Palestine Media as a non-profit . He was the Ambassador and Plenipotentiary General of the State of Palestine to Australia , New Zealand , Vanuatu , Papuankai and East Timor for over a quarter of a century from 1980 to 2006.
His life
Born in Haifa , Palestine, in 1947, Qazaq grew up in Syria as a Palestinian refugee . He and his mother were separated from his father when Palestine was occupied in 1948 and were prevented from returning to their homeland. He did not see his father, who lived in Haifa, for 48 years. In 1968, while at Damascus University , Qazaq was invited to join the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) and joined its political wing. At the time the movement was underground, it was now the largest party within the PLO. Qazaq emigrated to Australia in 1970, and became active in pro-Palestinian lobbying.
