Kamel Ahmed Hassan Hamid (Abu Fadi; born November 1, 1963 in Bethlehem ) is a Palestinian politician who served as governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley between 2008 and 2010, of Hebron between 2010 and 2018, and of Bethlehem between 2018 and 2023.
His life
He holds a BA in English from Bethlehem University , and a MA in Educational Administration from Al-Quds University .
He was arrested in Israeli occupation prisons about 9 times for a total of six years.
He was appointed as of September 15, 2008 as Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley Governorate .
On October 23, 2010, he was appointed governor of Hebron Governorate . He continued in this position until 2018.
In March 2013, he was the most prominent signatory to the Hebron Cry Charter, which was sent to world leaders, demanding the cancellation of the Hebron Agreement signed between the Palestinian Authority and Israel in 1997.
On October 1, 2018, he was appointed governor of Bethlehem Governorate . On August 10, 2023, President Mahmoud Abbas referred him to retirement.
Medals
On August 17, 2023, President Mahmoud Abbas awarded him the Star of Merit of the State of Palestine Medal , which he handed over to them during his meeting to honor the governors who were referred to retirement on August 20, 2023.
