Gaza, 1955. originally from Hebron; his father came to Gaza in 1949 and settled there. BA degree in Accounting from Cairo University and high diploma in Human Resources from Cairo University. Worked at the religious al-Azhar Institute for 10 years, worked in the Civil Affairs Ministry for 7 years then as General Director of Administrative Affairs at the Interior Ministry. Appointed Minister of Interior in 2007.
