Anwar Abu Aisha (born July 30 , 1951 in Hebron ) is a Palestinian lawyer and jurist . [1] He held the position of Minister of the Ministry of Culture in the fifteenth and sixteenth Palestinian government headed by Rami Hamdallah . [2] [3] He is a former member of the Hebron City Council . [1]
On March 20, 2020, the Hebron Municipality announced that he had contracted the Coronavirus disease 2019 at his residence in France , due to the Israeli authorities preventing him from returning. [4] Later on April 1, 2020, government spokesman Ibrahim Melhem said that Abu Aisha had recovered. [5]

Academic attainment

Anwar Jamal Abdel Mohsen Abu Aisha was born in Hebron on July 30, 1951. He received his school education in the city, then left for Algeria and obtained a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Oran in 1977, and a master's degree in civil law from the University of Paris X in France in 1980. And later a doctorate degree in civil law in 1989 from the same university. [1] During his studies in France , he chaired the Council of the Palestinian Student Union . [1]
During his return from Algeria, the Israeli occupation arrested him and sentenced him to one year in prison, and a year of house arrest as well, and then deported him in 1974. 

working life

Abu Aisha worked as a private secretary for Issam Al-Sartawi , and became a member of the Palestinian Olympic Committee in 1982. He was appointed an official employee of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1983. He became a representative of the Palestinian Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in Europe in the period 1983-1994.
Since 1996, Abu Aisha has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Al-Quds University . [6] He became a member of the Hebron Municipal Council after the 2012–13 Palestinian local elections .
On June 8, 2013, President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree amending Rami Hamdallah's first government and adding Anwar Abu Aisha as Minister of Culture. [7] He was sworn in on June 9, 2013. [8]
He continued as Minister of Culture in Rami Hamdallah’s second government until June 2, 2014.
