Adnan Ghaleb Jawad al-Husseini (born 1947 in Jerusalem) is a Palestinian engineer and politician who has held several important positions in the city of Jerusalem . He was the governor of Jerusalem Governorate from 2008 to 2018, and also the Minister of Jerusalem Affairs from 2012 to 2019. He previously served as the director of the Jerusalem Endowments and as an advisor to the Palestinian President on Jerusalem Affairs.
Educational attainment
1965 General Secondary Certificate (Tawjihi) from Al-Ibrahimiya College in Jerusalem .
1970 He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Ain Shams University in Cairo .
1977 Participated in a training course in the field of preserving ancient and archaeological buildings and how to restore them from the ICROM Institute in Rome, Italy .
practical life
(February 1971-October 1984) - Engineer supervising Islamic Waqf projects in Jerusalem and the West Bank, including supervising the restoration of Al-Aqsa Mosque after the attack and fire that the mosque was subjected to on August 21, 1969.
(October 1984-April 1989) - Director General of Construction and Maintenance of Properties of the General Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem.
(April 1989-February 2007) - Director General of the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem.
(September 2007-September 2008) - Advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas for Jerusalem Affairs.
(September 2008 – 2018) - Governor of Jerusalem.
