Adli Rifaat Saleh Yaish (born June 30, 1952 in Nablus) is the former mayor of Nablus. 

His life

Born in Nablus, he was the youngest of eight children. He grew up in the city, before moving to the United Kingdom and completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Liverpool, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Honors.

He then returned to live in his city and worked with his family in the car and parts trade, and joined community and national institutions in his city.

Elections

Yaish ran for the municipal elections held in 2005, which were the first elections held in the city in nearly 30 years. He and his list won the elections by an overwhelming majority, becoming mayor of Nablus until 2012. He then refused to run for a new electoral term due to the tense political conditions in the West Bank .

In 2017, Yaish decided to run again for the municipal elections, and won two-thirds of the municipal council seats to become mayor of Nablus for the second time, and continued in the position until 2019.
