Dr. Jawad Anani former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in Jordan. He is now the president of the Jordan Economic and Social council. He holds a Doctorate degree in economics from the University of Georgia. Anani held previously the following positions: Minister of Supply from 1979 -1980, Minister of Labor from 1980-1984, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism in 1984 and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Information 1993-1995, and Deputy Prime Minister for the development between 1997-1998 and was given the portfolio of Foreign Affairs in 1998.

He has been a member of the Senate of Jordan since 1993 and is an advisor to His Royal Highness Prince Hassan Bin Talal. A member of Jordan's Peace Negotiation Team since 1991, Dr. Anani served as overall peace negotiation coordinator from 1993 to 1995.
