Assem Ghaleb Hafez Salem (born on June 4, 1958 in Nablus) is a Palestinian economist who has been serving since April 2019 as Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Communications within the government of Muhammad Shtayyeh. He worked as a lecturer at An-Najah National University, headed the University's Friends Association, and previously served as the head of the Palestinian Universities Workers' Syndicate. He was a member of the Nablus Municipal Council, but he resigned on August 11, 2015, and headed the "Nablus Ajmal" list to participate in the 2016 Palestinian local elections, but later withdrew on August 25, 2016.
