Layla Al-Arian is an Emmy
Award-winning American broadcast journalist for Al Jazeera Media Network. She
is the producer of the Al Jazeera English documentary series. She co-authored
Collateral Damage: America's War Against Iraqi Civilians with Chris Hedges. She
is married to the American scholar of Islamic studies, Jonathan AC Brown.
She produced Al Jazeera English's
special on the Palestine Papers in January 2011, a four-day program on the
largest diplomatic leak in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She
drew national attention with her column on Homeland, which was described as
"TV's most Islamophobic show". She has produced several
documentaries, including "The Abortion War" and "Peabody" -
a profitable investigative report made in Bangladesh. In 2013, I spoke at New
America to discuss the history and impact of surveillance on target
communities.
Since graduating from Columbia
Journalism School in 2006, Laila El-Erian's work has appeared in The Nation,
The Independent, The Guardian, Huffington Post, Salon, and many other
publications. She is the daughter of Sami Al-Arian. On October 1, 2018, Laila
won an Emmy Award for her role in The Pan: The Human Cost of Trump's Travel
Ban.
