Palestinian poet and journalist Wissal Abu Alia recently won third place at the International Poetry and Novel Festival in Italy.
Abu Alia won the festival for her poem “Cities Forbidden from Invasion,” which was translated into Italian.
The poem deals with Palestinian cities from Ras Naqoura to Rafah, all of which reject the occupation and the idea of coexisting with it one day.
It is noteworthy that the Palestinian poet Abu Alia is the only Arab poet participating in the festival.
