Husni Abdul Rahim Al-Maqdadi (1902-1994 ) was a Palestinian thinker , journalist , author , writer and educator . He was born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm . He is the founder of the “Arab Agricultural Magazine.” He was one of the most prominent writers, journalists and thinkers in Palestine during the British Mandate period before the Nakba in 1948.
His biography
Hosni Abdul Rahim Al-Maqdadi was born in the city of Tulkarm in 1902. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown of Tulkarm, then continued his education in Jerusalem , and worked in the Survey Department of the Mandatory Palestine Government, and worked in the cities of Gaza and Jaffa .
He specialized in agricultural sciences in France , then was appointed director of the Khadoori Agricultural School in Tulkarm . He also founded the first evening school in Palestine to combat illiteracy, and was active in the field of economic and agricultural awareness.
In 1945, he participated with a group of intellectuals who were graduates of the American University of Beirut in establishing the “Arab Club,” a club that was known for its prominent cultural and national activity. In 1946, Al-Miqdadi also published the first artistic agricultural magazine known as the “Arab Agricultural Magazine,” and he edited “Al-Shajara Magazine.” .
In 1946, he was a member of the Arab Advisory Committee of the General Statistics Department in the Mandatory Government of Palestine, a committee whose membership included, in addition to Al-Muqaddadi, Ahmad Al-Shuqairi , Abdul Hamid Yassin, Anton Atallah , Khalil Al-Badri , and others.
Al-Miqdadi was one of the most prominent writers, thinkers, and journalists in Palestine during the British Mandate period, and following the Nakba War in 1948 , he was forced to leave Palestine heading to Beirut , where he remained until his death in 1994 .
His books and published works
Al-Muqaddadi has many books, works and articles published in Palestinian and Arab newspapers before 1948 , including:
A book entitled “Fertilizers and Their Use ,” which he published in 1930. It consists of 165 pages of small pieces. It is a book that includes research on plants, soil, fertilizers, and their composition and use.
A scientific article entitled “Economic Reform in Palestine ,” published by the Arab League newspaper , dated September 19, 1927 .
A research entitled “The Effects of the Arabs on the Agriculture of Andalusia ,” published in the “Agricultural Engineer’s Journal.”
He published the "Arab Agricultural Journal" , in 1946 , which was the first magazine specialized in agricultural affairs and issues.
And many other published works and publications.
His death
Hosni Al-Maqdadi died in 1994 in Beirut at the age of about 92, and was buried there.
