Hamza Wael Hamdan Al-Dahdouh ( July 10, 1996 – January 7, 2024 ) was a Palestinian journalist and photographer . He holds a BA in Journalism and Media from Al-Azhar University in Gaza . He is the son of journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh . He lost a number of his family members, including his mother Amna Al-Dahdouh, his sister Sham, and his brother Mahmoud, on October 25, 2023, as a result of an air strike carried out by the Israeli Air Force on the house to which his family had fled in the southern Gaza Valley , specifically in the Nuseirat camp .
His murder
He was martyred along with his colleague Mustafa Thraya in an Israeli air strike that targeted a journalists’ vehicle in the area west of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip . Hamza and Mustafa were on a work mission for Al Jazeera Channel to monitor the conditions of the displaced , and he had begun working with it after the outbreak of the 2023 Palestinian-Israeli war .
