Nibal Thawabteh, a Palestinian
journalist and writer, has been the director of the Media Development Center at
Birzeit University since 2009. She has accumulated 18 years of experience in
administrative, organizational and communications professional experience in
Palestine. Known in Palestine as one of the best trainers in various topics in
journalism and media.
She holds a master's degree in
management and education, and has extensive professional experience for more
than 15 years in media training and capacity building in Palestine and other
Arab countries in various media topics including media management, 15 years of
professional experience in media production in Palestine and knowledge at the
level Experience in editing and media research. As the editor-in-chief of
Al-Hal newspaper, and chair of the board of directors of the Palestinian Ma'an
News Agency for six years, she has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the
Palestinian and Arab Islamic media. In 2008 Nibal received the International
Women of Courage Award from the US State Department, and has a number of
media-related publications including Handbook of Media, Elections, and Women,
Studying Freedom of Expression and Opinion in Palestine, and other articles in
both Arabic and English. She also produced a series of documentaries that were
broadcast on Arab satellite channels, and wrote scripts for TV series. She has
served as a consultant to local and international organizations such as the
European Union, UNESCO, the British Council, the World Newspapers Association,
the International Media Support Association, the World Bank and the European
Commission, and she is a board member of several institutions. In addition to
her experience in media and training, Mrs. Thawabteh has implemented evaluation
studies for many media projects and many media strategies.
