director. In 2009, Variety magazine included her in the list of the 10 most
promising directors.

was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to a Palestinian father from Jenin and a Jordanian
mother. I grew up in Ohio and Jordan. She received a BA with distinction in
Creative Writing and Communication from the University of Cincinnati and an MA
from Columbia University College of the Arts in 2004.

short film I Wish was shown at the Sundance Festival in 2007 and won a number
of awards at various festivals. She worked as a writer on the American TV
series, The L Word, between the years 2006-2008. She directed her feature film
debut, America, which was screened at Sundance in 2009. The film was acclaimed
by many critics. The DVD of this film was released on January 12, 2010 and it
also contains her short film I Wish.
