Husam Assi (Sam) is a film critic, writer and media personality. He produces and presents a cinematic segment on the Al-Alam This Evening program for BBC Arabic, and writes cinematic articles for Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper. He also represents Britain and the Middle East in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which has been distributing the Golden Globe Awards since 2010. .

Husam holds a BA in Physics, a Masters in Medical Sciences and a PhD in Brain Sciences. He also studied film at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. His research has been published in the most prominent international scientific journals.
