Ziad Ali Khalil Abu Ziad (born April 3 , 1940 in Al-Eizariya ) is a Palestinian journalist , lawyer and politician . [1] He served as Minister of State within Yasser Arafat’s third government between August 9, 1998 and June 13, 2002. [2] [3]
He was elected a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council after the 1996 Palestinian general elections , where he obtained 8,434 votes in the Jerusalem Governorate district . [4]
On January 29, 2006, the Fatah Central Committee decided to dismiss him from the Fatah Movement , in implementation of the decision of the movement’s Revolutionary Council on November 7, 2005, to consider everyone who ran for the second Palestinian legislative elections and did not adhere to the movement’s decisions outside the movement’s ranks and frameworks. In 1994, he founded with journalist Victor Zigelman the quarterly magazine Palestine-Israel. [6]
