The young woman, Azhar Khalaf, won the highest percentage of votes in the mock elections for the Young Journalists Syndicate that took place in the Media Department at Birzeit University, thus becoming the first female president of the Young Journalists Syndicate in Palestine.

13 candidates competed for membership in the nominal union, and among them won: Azhar Khalaf, Nagham Issa, Ismail Al-Sharafa, Maram Nasser, Farah Al-Barghouti, Manar Shweiki, and Aisha Hassouna.

These elections come with the support of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, the universities of Jerusalem Abu Dis, Birzeit, Al-Quds Open University in Gaza, and Hebron University.

It is noteworthy that the Tawasul project provides a range of opportunities for students, introducing them to the role of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, and qualifying them on the personal, psychological, professional and union levels.
