Information
Mahmoud Abu Al-Zaluf (Abu Marwan; 1924 - March 28, 2005) is a Palestinian journalist, referred to by some sources as “the dean of the Palestinian press.” He was born in the city of Jaffa. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in media from the American University of Beirut. He returned to Jaffa and worked as a journalist in Al-Difaa newspaper (which was edited by Ibrahim Al-Shanti). He also participated with journalists Salim Al-Sharif and Mahmoud Yaish in establishing Al-Jihad newspaper in the city of Jerusalem in 1951. Al-Jihad and Al-Diffa newspapers were also merged to form Al-Quds newspaper on March 21, 1967, following the issuance of the Jordanian Publications Law (Al-Quds newspaper stopped publishing due to the June 1967 war and reappeared on November 19, 1968). He also became owner and editor-in-chief of the newspaper until his death in Jerusalem on 28 March 2005.
