Tariq Naim Khalil Ayoub (born 1967 in Kuwait - died 8 April 2003 in Iraq ) was a Palestinian journalist and news correspondent of Jordanian nationality from the village of Yasouf in the Salfit district of the central West Bank . Tariq was born in Kuwait in 1967, where he obtained his high school diploma. He then moved to India , where he studied literature and obtained a BA from the University of Calicut in 1990. He then moved to Jordan in 1993 and has worked in the press and media sector for about 10 years. He is a well-known media figure, and holds a Master's degree in English and a diploma in journalism. 

His career 

He began his journalistic career working for the Jordan Times , a Jordanian daily newspaper in English, and his relationship with it did not cease. He also worked through his position in Jordan with WTN, a photo news agency based in Paris . He also worked as a producer and correspondent for the Associated Press (APTN) from Amman , and finally joined Al Jazeera in 1998 .

He married Mrs. Dima Tahboub, daughter of the former head of the Jordanian Medical Association, Tariq Tahboub , and had two twin girls from her. One of them died, and the other, whose name is Fatima, remained.

His death 

Ayoub died at the tender age of 35 on April 8, 2003 , after working as a correspondent for Al Jazeera for three years. He covered the beginning of the war on Iraq from an area called Ruwaished on the Iraqi-Jordanian border, and then moved a week later to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad , where Tariq was with his colleagues on the roof of Al Jazeera’s office. He died after US forces fired a missile targeting the three-story Al Jazeera office. The building was evacuated immediately upon seeing the missile, except for Tariq Ayoub, who passed away, and his companion Zuhair was seriously injured.
