Mukhaimer obtained a BA in Arabic Language, Journalism and Media from the Islamic University of Gaza . She married and resided in the Jordanian capital, Amman . She lives with her husband and family.
Her murder
Journalist Salma and her child were killed in an Israeli bombardment of the city of Rafah on October 24, 2023, at the age of 31. This came after a surprise visit to Gaza to visit her family before moving to Kuwait with her husband. She was killed under bombardment with her family and their guests on the eighteenth day of the 2023 Palestinian-Israeli war . Institutions concerned with the issues of female journalists have called for action to be taken against the Israeli authorities, which deliberately target Palestinian female journalists, as they had assassinated approximately six female journalists by October.
