Khalil Al-Muzayen is a Palestinian director born in 1963 in Gaza and a graduate of the Russian Film School. He moved to the dramatic film and achieved success with the release of his film “Sarah” in 2014. The “Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival” opened with his short film “Monologues from Gaza” and he won the Al Jazeera Prize for Freedom and Human Rights.
Khalil al-Muzayen was born in October 1963, in the Shaboura camp in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, to refugee parents from the village of al-Qubaiba, in the Lydda District, southeast of Jaffa.
Al-Muzayen enrolled in studying the art of photography in Jerusalem, and studied evolutionary psychology at Al-Quds Open University, then withdrew from studying to work, and in 1992, Khalil left for Russia to study film directing at the Academy of Culture in St. ". Khalil Al-Muzayen returned to Gaza in 1998 and worked in several institutions, and the idea of creating his own film project remained in his head.
