Nihad Yassin Mahmoud Al-Mousa (1942-2022), grammatical, linguistic, educational, administrative, and academic. He was born on 9/5/1942 AD, in the town of Abbasiya, in the Palestinian city of Jaffa. He died on July 1, 2022 in Amman. It is called "the Sheikh of contemporary Arab grammarians."

 

His scientific life

He finished high school in the Ibrahimi College in Jerusalem in 1959, and obtained a Bachelor's degree in the Arabic Language and Literature from Damascus University in 1963, then he obtained from Cairo University the master's and doctorate degrees 1966 and 1969 successively.

 

His working life

His biography has been associated with the University of Jordan for forty -five years, during which he occupied the rank of professorship.

 

Where he worked in teaching at the University of Jordan since the year 1969, and held positions in it: Head of the Department of Graduate Studies for Humanities and Social Science Arts (2010).

 

He also worked as a teacher at King Saud University (1982), Kuwait University (1988), Emirates University (1993), and Jordan Girls University (“Petra” later) (1998), [and now works at the University of International Islamic Sciences].

 

He worked as an adviser to UNESCO for Arabic Education in China (1983), Chairman of the Arabic Language Experts Committee at the Educational Development Conference in Jordan (1987), and an expert in the Arabic language at the Foundation for Technological Applications in Washington (1994/1995, and 2000).

 

He occupied the membership of the editorial board in: Yarmouk Research Magazine issued by Yarmouk University (1982-1986), and the Jordanian magazine of the Arabic language and literature (2004-2010).

 

He was chosen as a member of the jury of the Abdul Hamid Shoman Prize (2002) and the King Faisal International Prize (2002, 2007).

 

He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Educational Sciences of the Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in 2000, and the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Arabic Language Service in Riyadh (2011).

 

He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association.
