Tawfiq Qubbaj holds a BSc in plant production and protection from An Najah national university, a M.Sc. in Horticulture from The University of Jordan (Jordan) and a Ph.D in plant physiology & biotechnology from Hohenheim University (Germany). After graduation he worked with different national and international organizations (UNDP, JICA & MOA) in the Jordan valley area as a researcher, where he was involved in implementing different applied research projects focusing on Sustainable Agriculture and improving crop productivity. In early 2011, after less than a year since moving to Canada, he joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as a visiting research participant, and handled a research project focused on sustainable insect crop pest control derived from natural plant volatiles. In May 2012 he joined the University of Guelph, Dep. of Plant Agriculture as a Research Associate, worked on a research project focusing on the application of safe plant-derived chemical compounds, as a sustainable approach for extending fruits shelf-life. Studying the physiological and molecular role of different phytohormones in stone fruit trees ripening process.
Since August 2016 he is working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Plant Production and Protection, Faulty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, at An-Najah National University instructing different graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of field crops, plant nutrition, and postharvest physiology.
In summary he is a well-established plant physiologist and biotechnologist, with more than 15 years of International academic and research work experience in the field of plant production and protection.
