Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abu Jaafar was born in Jenin in 1960 and completed his secondary education at Jenin Secondary School in 1978. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from An-Najah National University in 1982. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Jordan in 1985 and was appointed to the Physics Department at An-Najah National University in the same year.
Prof. Dr. Abu Jaafar obtained his PhD in Physics from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, USA in 1991. He also obtained a research and teaching assistantship at both the University of Jordan and Southern Illinois University and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002.
Professor Abu Jaafar has held various administrative positions, including Head of the Physics Department from 2001-2003, Head of the Graduate Studies Department for Natural Sciences from 2004-2007, and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies for 6 years from 2008-2014.
He spent his sabbatical at La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy in 2015-2016. He supervised many master's theses, with more than 27 students graduating under his supervision. He was the coordinator of four local and international conferences. His research interests focused on the field of condensed state computational physics using the full potential method of plane linear wave (FP- LAPW).
He has published more than 50 research papers in scientific and international journals with an impact factor, and he has also worked as a referee for many international scientific journals.
