Dr. Ihab Abu Hanoud was born in Dubai. He obtained his BA with First Class Honors in Interior Design from An-Najah National University (Palestine). He obtained his MA in Contemporary Palestinian Furniture Design from Helwan University (Egypt) in 2006, and his PhD in Kindergarten Design from the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2013. He worked as a designer at Jiyad Company (Saudi Arabia) from 2002 to 2003. He worked as a lecturer in the Interior Design Department at Amman Ahliyya University (Jordan) from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Ihab is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at An-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine. He has been working at An-Najah University as a faculty member since 2009, where he taught many courses and held important administrative positions, including Head of the Applied Arts Department (2020-2021), Food Design Program Coordinator (2016-2021), and Fashion Design and Game Design Program Coordinator from 2016 until their opening in 2022.
He has many local and international exhibitions. Specializes in contemporary Palestinian furniture design and kindergarten design and licensing. Member of the jury at Expo Dubai 2020 and the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, and a consultant to many non-governmental organizations and bodies. During his academic research career, Dr. Ihab participated in authoring many research papers related to: contemporary Palestinian furniture, development of the local furniture industry, harnessing technology and advanced materials, furniture recycling, and furniture design for disaster response.
