Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Abu Amar, Assistant Professor of Islamic Archaeology, has worked at the Higher Institute of Archaeology, Al-Quds University since 2000. He holds a PhD in Islamic Archaeology from the University of Granada, Spain, with a thesis on “Decorative Arts in the Alhambra Palaces.” Abu Amar directed the institute from 2009-2015. He conducts archaeological research and excavations in Khirbet Beit Bassa (Beit Sahour), as well as in Beit Ania (Eizariya). Abu Amar served as Director of the “Archaeomedic and Cultural Heritage Project in the Mediterranean Basin” from 2011 to 2015, and as Research Group Leader in the Euromed Project “Byzantine Period – Early Islamic Period” from 2006-2007, among many other participations and projects. Abu Amar has published numerous research papers in the field of archaeology.
