Information

Camille Mansour is member of IPS Board of Trustees and chairman of its research committee. He was professor of international relations at Paris University from 1984 to 2004. He also taught at Birzeit University where he founded and headed the Institute of Law (1994-2000) in the framework of which he established al-Muqtafi, the Palestine Judicial and Legislative Databank, and was the dean of its Faculty of Law and Public Administration (2007-2009). Between 2004 and 2006, he was a UNDP Senior Advisor for the Palestinian Rule of Law and Judiciary, Jerusalem.

He is the author or chief-editor of a number of books. Among them:Transformed Landscapes: Essays on Palestine and the Middle East in Honor of Walid Khalidi (edited with Leila Fawaz, The American University in Cairo Press, 2009); L'autorité dans la pensée musulmane (Librairie philosophique,1975); Yearbook of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli Conflict, volumes 1972 to 1976 in English, and 1976-1979 in Arabic (IPS); Les Palestiniens de l'intérieur (edited, les livres de la Revue d'études palestiniennes, 1989); Beyond Alliance: Israel in U.S. Foreign Policy (Columbia University Press, jointly with IPS, 1994) (also available in French and Arabic).

1945, Haifa. BA in Law and Philosophy from Beirut University; PhD in Islamic Studies and one Political Science from Paris University; editor-in-chief of the yearbook of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli conflict at the Institute of Palestinian Studies 1974-1979; Professor of International Relations and Middle Eastern Policies at Sorbonne University. Acted as advisor to the Palestinian negotiating team from 1991-1994; appointed in 1996 by Yasser Arafat to committee that was to draft a constitution for the PA; help to establish the Bir-Zeit Institute of Law; appointed the Secretary of the steering committee for the development of the Judiciary; written and edited many articles and books in Arabic, English and French.
