Faraj Bishara Salim al-Sarraf (born in 1919 in Beersheba - died on January 22, 2010 in Gaza) was a Palestinian lawyer, parliamentarian and author, who was a member of the first Palestinian Legislative Council between 1996 and 2006, after he ran in the 1996 Palestinian general elections on behalf of Fatah in the Gaza Governorate district and got 7,960 votes. His daughter, Mai Faraj, Bishara Al-Sarraf, held the position of Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Denmark.
his life
Faraj al-Sarraf was born in the city of Beersheba in 1919. He obtained his Mutrah certificate in 1937 from the Friends School in Ramallah. He studied at the American University of Beirut in 1939-1940, and studied at the Faculty of Law in Jerusalem, from which he obtained a law degree in 1947.
He began practicing law in 1948 in Gaza City.
He has books in the legal field, namely: Rules of Evidence (Evidence) in Palestinian Legislation in 1992, Christianity and Gaza: One of the Major Cities in the Holy Land in 1993,
In 1996, al-Sarraf ran as a representative of Fatah in the Gaza Governorate constituency in the 1996 Palestinian general elections, obtaining 7,960 votes and being awarded one of the seats reserved for the Christian community in the first Palestinian Legislative Council. He presided over the Palestinian Legislative Council in its first session as the oldest member, and was a member of the Legal Committee and the Jerusalem Committee.
