Islah Jad (born in 1951) is an Assistant Professor of Gender and Development at Birzeit University. She is the co-founder and current director of the Institute for Women's Studies at Birzeit. She is a core group member of the Arab Working Families Group. A prominent figure in the Palestinian women's movement,[1] also Islah Jad helped establish the Women's Affairs Center in Gaza and Nablus, Friends of Francis, the Children's Corner Project Balbere and the Technical Committee for Women's Affairs.[2]
Islah Gad gave gender counseling for the United Nations Development Program and participated in writing the Arab Human Development Report in 2005. Islah received a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Cairo University, a master’s degree in political theory from Nantes University, and a doctorate in gender and development studies from London university. In July 2009, Reform received the AMIDEAST Award for Educational Excellence.
