Information
Asma Azayza is a Palestinian poet born in 1985 in the village of Daburia in the Lower Galilee. She lives and works in Haifa.
her professional career
She holds a BA in Journalism and English Literature from Haifa University. She writes articles on culture for local and Arab newspapers and supplements, including Fasah Cultural Magazine. She worked in radio and television channels as a presenter, and is now working as the director of a project she founded, "Fana'a al-Sha'ar". In poetry, she published the poetry collection "Liwa", which won the Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan Prize in 2010. After that, she published two poetry collections, "As Al-Diya gave birth to me" (Al-Ahlyah / 2015) and "Don't believe me if I told you about the war" (Al-Mostahed, 2019). She published her poems in an anthology of poets from Palestine and Germany (Al-Ahlia, 2017). She participates in anthologies and poetry festivals around the world. Some of her poems have been translated into English, German, French, Persian, Swedish, Spanish, Slavic, Turkish and others.
She worked in several media outlets, including the news section of Al-Shams Radio, the editorial department of Al-Madina newspaper in Haifa, and editing the newsletter and monthly reports at the Arab Foundation for Human Rights.
Recently, she worked as Artistic Director of Fattoush Books and Arts Store and Fattoush Gallery, before the project was discontinued
