Palestinian
photographer Majdi Fathi Qreqi, from the Gaza Strip, won the prize for the
“Arab Photographers Union and Sharjah Calligraphy Forum” competition for the
press photo, which was organized under the auspices of the Department of
Culture in the UAE.
The
“Diaa Calligraphy” exhibition presented 40 works by 29 photographers. The Union
of Arab Photographers organized a competition for them, in which five Arab
photographers won. Their works were carefully chosen.
The
list of winners was as follows:
Salem
Sarhan Amer in the first place
Hussein
Ali Al-Amiri in second place
While
the third place was won by Majdi Fathi Qureiqa
While
the honorary awards came to: Ahmed Dawood and Omran Al-Ahmad, they were honored
by Abdullah Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture in Sharjah.
And
Dar Al-Kalima University House for Arts and Culture in Bethlehem honored, for
the fifth year in a row, and under the slogan “No New World Order”, the
finalists and winners of the Karima Abboud Award for Photography for the year
2020, during a ceremony held at Dar Al-Kalima University headquarters in Gaza
City. The ceremony was transmitted via Zoom technology.
Then Mr.
Fayez Al-Sarsawy, accompanied by Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan and Mr. Raji
Al-Sourani, handed certificates to the 12 finalists from the Gaza Strip, male
and female photographers. The first place was shared by Youssef Abu Saeed for
his project “Corona” and Magdy Quraiqa for his project “Make Your Mask”.
The
first-place winning photos will be permanently displayed in the library and
multimedia building at Dar Al-Kalima University, along with the winning photos
and artworks in previous years in the Karima Abboud Prize for Photography, and
the artist Ismail Shammout Prize for Fine Art.
