The year 2019 was distinguished by the winning of prestigious literary awards by Arab and foreign women writers, including a Palestinian novelist.
In addition to female novelists from Britain, Canada, Turkey, Oman and Lebanon who won literary prizes in the thousands of dollars, the Palestinian novelist Nayrouz Qarmat came with her novel "A Mantle of the Sea".
In August of this year, the English translation of The Mantle of the Bahr collection of 14 stories by Palestinian writer and journalist Nayrouz Qarmout, who was born in 1984 in the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus, was released.
This collection, which is the author's first and was published in English, tells about human life in Gaza, where Newroz has lived since 1994. It was the best-selling collection at the Edinburgh Festival in 2019.
