Yahya Yakhlef (1944), Palestinian writer and novelist . [1] He was born in the town of Samakh on the southern bank of Lake Tiberias in ( Palestine ) in 1944. His family emigrated to Jordan after the Nakba , and he lived in the city of Irbid and studied in its schools.
He holds a teacher’s diploma and a Bachelor of Arts from Beirut Arab University . He worked in teaching and journalism , and published his first stories in the New Horizon magazine, which was published in Jerusalem in the mid-sixties of the last century. Then he began publishing in the Beirut Journal of Literature . He has about 19 literary works between stories. Novelist, children's literature .
His professional career
Worked as Secretary General of the Palestinian Writers and Journalists Union in 1980 .
Worked as Director General of the Department of Culture in the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1987 .
He was appointed Minister of Culture in the Palestinian Authority between the years 2003-2006 .
He was appointed Chairman of the Supreme Council of Culture, and Chairman of the Palestinian National Committee for Education, Culture and Science in 2007 .
He headed Palestinian delegations to many UNESCO and ALECSO conferences .
He retired from his official work in May 2012 and devoted himself to writing. [2] [3]

Achievements and Awards
State of Palestine Prize for Literature for the year 2000 . The Gold Medal Medal from the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) 2012 . The Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction, in the category of published novels for the year 2016 , for the novel “The Rider of the Wind.” He headed the Palestinian delegation to the 2011 UNESCO conference , in which the State of Palestine obtained full membership in UNESCO. He participated in conferences and meetings of the Arab Writers Union, the Asian and African Writers Union , ALECSO seminars, ISESCO seminars, and Arab book fairs seminars and invitations. [3] The novel (The Warm Hand) was nominated for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in the Emirates , as part of the long list for the literature branch in the thirteenth session (2018-2019). [7] He was awarded the Palestinian Order of Culture, Science and Arts in 2018 [8] For all his literary works, he won the Cairo International Forum for Creativity in Fiction in 2019.
