He was displaced with his family due to the Nakba in 1948 and lived in the Yarmouk Camp in Damascus , where he finished his high school studies. He died on January 24, 2021 in the UAE , and wrote a collection of poetic writings.

Educational life

Omar Rashrash obtained a BA in Philosophy from the University of Damascus . He then moved to Algeria , where he worked as a teacher of the Arabic language in its schools. In 1978, he moved to Baghdad and began working in journalism until the mid-eighties, when he joined the ranks of the Palestine Liberation Front to work as director of the press office of Secretary-General Muhammad Abbas, “ Abu al-Abbas .” He then moved to Tunisia with the Liberation Organization and returned to Baghdad again. He participated in confronting the American invasion and occupation of Iraq and remained there until 2006. In 2012 he left for Lebanon.

The Palestine Liberation Front and the Palestinian Ministry of Culture mourned him , and their statement said: “The deceased is considered one of the most important Palestinian figures who fought with the pen and the gun, and one of the guardians of the dream and spokesman for the poor and the free. He lived estranged from his homeland, but he did not forget it in his poems and struggle.”
