Yahya Abdel Salam Abdel Hadi Habash, whose nom de guerre is Sakher Habash (Abu Nizar; November 10, 1939 – November 1, 2009) is a Palestinian writer, poet , and politician, born in Beit Dajan, Jaffa , in 1939. After the Nakba, he moved to Balata refugee camp in Nablus Governorate. He holds a master’s degree. in geological engineering from the University of Arizona in the United States in 1965. In 1976, he was elected secretary of the Revolutionary Council. He died and was buried in Al-Bireh in 2009.

His education

He studied the basic stage at Beit Dajan Primary School, the UNRWA School in Balata Camp , and the Khaldouniya School in Nablus . He studied secondary school at the Saliha School in Nablus. He obtained high school from Al-Najah College in Nablus, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in geology and chemistry from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 2017 . 1962 , and a master’s degree in geological engineering from the University of Arizona in the United States of America in 1967 . He worked as a physics teacher at Al-Sawiya School in 1956 , then an employee at the American company Parsons, which was engaged in phosphate exploration in Jordan in 1962 , then an employee at the Natural Resources Authority in Jordan in 1962, and a supervisor of water sources in the West Bank .

His political activity

Habash was shot in the leg from a Zionist rifle in late 1947.
He joined the Baath Party in 1954 , then joined the Fatah movement in 1962 and received military training in its Al-Hamah camp in Syria in 1967. He assumed responsibility for the organization in the central region of Jordan and in 1968 became a member of the “Jordan Region” leadership, representing the West Bank. He was also responsible for the Cubs camps there, and one of the supervisors of the Palestinian Radio in the Hussein area. He was arrested during the events in Jordan in 1970.

In 1971, he joined the leadership of the organizing committee of what was known as the “Western Sector.” He was elected a member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council and assumed the position of leadership of the Lebanon region in October 1973. He assumed the secretariat of the Revolutionary Council in 1980, and the position of secretary of the Commander’s Office. General, he was also chosen as President of the Palestinian-Soviet Friendship Society in 1981, and was sent as Palestine’s ambassador to the Soviet Union in 1984. He was elected at the Fifth Conference of the Fatah Movement as a member of the Central Committee in 1989, and was appointed Commissioner for Intellectual Affairs and Studies in the Fatah Movement in 1996, and worked as a coordinator for the national and Islamic forces.
