Thuraya Abdel Fattah Muhammad Abdel Rahman Malhas (1924 - 2013 ) was a writer, poet, researcher, and university professor.
Her birth and upbringing
Thuraya Abdul Fattah Malhas was born in Amman in 1924. Her father is Abdul Fattah Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Malhas and her mother is Circassian , Hajj Khan Lambaz. Her family lived in Amman before the establishment of the Emirate of Transjordan , where she received her primary and secondary education before completing it in Jerusalem at the English College . She continued her university studies in Beirut and London . She enrolled in the American University of Beirut , where she obtained a BA in Arabic Literature and Language in 1947 , with first class honors. In 1951 , she obtained a Master’s degree again from the American University of Beirut with first class honors. The subject of her thesis was “The Literature of the Spirit among the Arabs.” This thesis was published in 1964 after being revised and amended under the title: “Spiritual Values in Arabic Poetry, Ancient and Modern.”
Her career
She joined Beirut University College for Girls to teach in 1952. After that, she continued her studies at the University of London , Department of Oriental and African Studies. In 1970, she was nominated for a doctorate at the Jesuit University in Beirut ( Saint Joseph University ), Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, in addition to devoting herself to teaching, and she registered her thesis under the title: Kashajim , his era, his biography, his works.
It is worth mentioning that this poet and scholar - Kashajim - was unknown to everyone, and no one wrote about him more than two or a few lines, but researcher Malhas came out with her thesis with one thousand seven hundred pages in her own handwriting. In 1981, she received an international doctorate (first class) from Saint Joseph University (Jesuit) in Beirut, and the title of the thesis became: Mahmoud bin Al-Hussein, known as Abu Al-Fath Kashajim Al-Baghdadi in his works and the works of scholars. In 1989, she received the rank of professor. She moved from teaching to supervising master's and doctoral theses at the Lebanese University. In 1994, a decree was issued for her by the university to extend her one academic year to continue supervising doctoral theses at the same university, but she apologized.

Her published works exceed forty, and they include books on the history of Arabic literature, in addition to short studies and poetry collections.
