A writer based in Beirut, she is the sister of the Palestinian intellectual Edward Said. She was born in Jerusalem. She taught at Beirut University College (later the Lebanese American University) for several years. She has published numerous studies and articles, and participated in regional and international conferences in the fields of feminism and literary criticism.
