Information

Shaker Farid Hassan

was born on March 29, 1960, in the village of Musmus, and grew up amidst its alleys, neighborhoods, and streets.

He studied until the ninth grade at its elementary school and completed his secondary education in Kafr Qara.

He did not pursue university studies due to the difficult economic conditions at the time.

He joined the workforce, initially working as a postman in the village of Mushirifa, then in construction work, and later as a correspondent for the Haifa-based Al-Ittihad newspaper.

He was passionate about words and loved reading and the Arabic language from a young age. He educated himself, reading hundreds of books in all literary, philosophical, social, cultural, and psychological fields. Marxist books particularly attracted him, leading him to embrace Marxist thought, the thought of the working class, intellectually and ideologically. He joined the Communist Party and was selected for the party's central education committee along with the late thinker and writer Salman Natour.

Land Day and the death of the martyred poet Rashid Hussein had a profound impact on the development of my political, intellectual, and cultural awareness and the crystallization of my national commitment. On that day, I was selected for the Rashid Hussein Heritage Revival Committee, which worked to publish his poetic and prose works and commemorate his memory.

I was also an active member of the volunteer work committee founded by the late, esteemed poet Ahmed Hussein.

I began writing at a young age, publishing my first attempts and writing experiments in the children's magazine "La Awladna" (For Our Children), published by the Arab Publishing House, which later became "Majallati" (My Magazine). In high school, I published in the magazine "Zahrat al-Shabab" (Flower of Youth), where I was a member of the student committee. I also published in the teachers' magazine "Sada al-Tarbiya" (Echo of Education), which was and still is published by the Teachers' Union, and in the now-defunct newspaper "Al-Anbaa" (The News).

After that, I became acquainted with the press published in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, and I began publishing my writings in the newspapers "Al-Quds," "Al-Sha'ab," "Al-Fajr," and "Al-Mithaq," as well as in the cultural and literary magazines and periodicals published at the time, such as "Al-Fajr Al-Adabi," "Al-Bayader Al-Adabi," "Al-Kateb," "Al-Shiraa," "Al-Ahd," "Al-Awda," and "Al-Hasad," and later in the newspapers "Al-Ayyam" and "Al-Hayat Al-Jadida."

This is in addition to the communist press, where I published my writings in the youth magazine "Al-Ghad," the literary and intellectual magazine "Al-Jadeed," and the prestigious newspaper "Al-Ittihad," where I continue to publish my political, literary, critical, and social writings.

I have also published in Al-Qandil newspaper, which was published in Baqa al-Gharbiyya, and in Panorama, Kul al-Arab, Al-Sanara, and Al-Adab al-Nasrawiyya, which was published by the writer and journalist Afif Salah Salem, as well as in Tariq al-Sharara, Nidaa al-Aswar al-Akkiya newspaper and magazine, Al-Hasad newspaper, and Al-Islah magazine, published by Dar al-Amani in Arara. I have also written a weekly column for Al-Masar newspaper, published in Umm al-Fahm, for the past fifteen years, since its inception, in addition to dozens of websites and social media platforms.

My writing encompasses articles, commentaries, political analysis, literary criticism, historical and cultural research, philosophical thought, social and literary analyses, translations, and poetic and prose reflections. My writing has received positive feedback from various generations and tastes, both locally and internationally.

I was also awarded the shield of Al-Muthaqqaf newspaper, published in Australia.
