Jamal Iskandar Kawar (December 19, 1930 - June 24, 2013) was a Palestinian-Israeli poet, linguist, and university professor. He was born in the city of Nazareth and became one of the Arabs inside after the Nakba. He holds a doctorate in Arabic literature. He worked as a lecturer of Arabic language and literature at the Teachers Training College in Haifa, and the Arabic language department at its university. He has several collections of poetry.

Gamal Iskandar Kawar was born on December 19, 1930 in Nazareth, and was raised there in a Greek Orthodox Christian family. He received his primary and secondary education there. Then he worked as a teacher of the Arabic language at the Arab Teachers' House in Haifa, then joined the University of Haifa and obtained his first university degree in Arabic language, literature and education, then worked as a teacher of the Arabic language there. He attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and obtained a master's degree in Arabic. Then Tel Aviv University and obtained a Ph.D. Thesis for his Ph.D. was on the subject of the Qur’anic syntax and its relationship to the sciences of interpretation and grammar.
He continued his teaching career in Haifa, and worked as a teacher of Arabic language and literature at the College of Arab Teachers Preparation there and at its university. He entered the press and served as editor-in-chief of the cultural magazine Al-Mawakeb.
He is considered one of the first Arab poets who emerged after the 1948 Nakba in Israel. On November 17, 2006, the Palestinian Writers Association inside, in the new hall of the writer's house in Nazareth, organized a celebration in his honor.
Jamal Kawar died in his hometown on June 24, 2013 at the age of 82. His body was buried there by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation and was buried in the Roman Cemetery.
