Marouf Rafiq al-Sheikh Mahmoud (November 20, 1935 - May 9, 2005) was a Palestinian poet. He was born in Anabta. He studied in Tulkarm, then in Beirut, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Arab League in 1968. He worked in education in Palestine, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, then in the State of Qatar, where he established the Department of Educational Media, and the Department of Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior. Then he devoted himself to working as a cultural advisor to Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani. In recognition of his efforts, the Qatari government granted him citizenship in 1989. He has several collections of poetry. His uncle is Abd al-Rahim Mahmoud, and his brother is Adeeb Rafiq Mahmoud.

Maarouf Rafiq Sheikh Mahmoud was born on Shaaban 24, 1354/November 20, 1935 in Anabta, between Tulkarm and Nablus in Palestine and grew up there. His father, Sheikh Rafiq Mahmoud, was a poet, preacher and teacher, and his grandfather, Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Azhari, was a poet. His uncle is Abd al-Rahim Mahmoud, and his brother is Adeeb Rafiq Mahmoud. Maarouf Rafiq obtained his high school diploma in Tulkarm in 1953, and a Bachelor of Laws from Beirut Arab University in 1968.
He worked as a teacher in his homeland at the school of his hometown of Anabta for one year, Jordan, Saudi Arabia 1955, and Qatar since 1961. He established the Educational Media Department in the Qatari Ministry of Education, and the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, and devoted himself to Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani as an educational and cultural advisor to his children . Marouf Rafiq has also worked in the press, as an editor for the Qatari Education Journal. In recognition of his efforts in security and cultural awareness programs in Qatar, his government granted him citizenship in 1989. He joined the World Islamic Literature Association on March 15, 2001.
Marouf Rafeeq died on Rabi` al-Akhir 1st 1426/9 May 2005 in Doha.
