Noha Zourub Kawar (1936-) is a Palestinian writer, poet, and historian. She was born in Nazareth on March 18, 1936. She is married to Bahjat Kawar, and has four children.

Noha was born in the city of Nazareth on March 18, 1936. Her father, Munib Zourub, is of Lebanese origin. Her mother, Azza Kawar, is the granddaughter of Tannous Kawar, the first mayor of Nazareth. Nuha completed her secondary education at the Baptist School in Nazareth, and obtained a general certificate in Arabic, Hebrew, and English from the University of London. She also studied screenwriting and dialogue for the story, and obtained a B.A. in theology, philosophy, and psychology.

 

Nuha wrote in a number of newspapers and magazines at the beginning of her life under the pseudonym “The Daughter of Nazareth” due to her shyness and unwillingness to have her real name appear in newspapers and on Israeli radio. She also wrote some poems in Hebrew, and a number of her poems were translated into English, and she gave a number of lectures. Inside and outside Palestine, she works in a number of international voluntary organizations.

 

Noha’s name was included in the American Foundation for Biography, from which she obtained the “Worldwide Distinguished Leaders” certificate, as well as the “Golden Record of Achievement” certificate. In 2002, she won the Creativity Award, and Dutch TV filmed a movie about her life.

She also published a number of children's books, such as: "The Black Eagle", "The Angry Street", "The Diamond Eye", "Eid Night", "Laila Crosses the Street", "Princess Cinderella".

 

The History of Nazareth is considered one of the most important books published by Noha. It is an encyclopedia about the history of Nazareth from the occupation, surrender, and suffering of its people throughout the ages.
