In the midst of a remarkable presence
of writers, writers and those interested, the Palestinian writer Mahmoud Joudeh
signed his book (Orphan Gaza) yesterday morning at the Museum Hotel on the
shore of the Gaza Sea.
The ceremony began with the
Palestinian national anthem, then reading Al-Fatihah on the souls of the
martyrs.
In his speech, Dr. Riyad Abu Rahma,
Professor of Literature at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, shed light on the
collection of stories, which included 27 realistic human stories that took
place during the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip in 2014.
Abu Rahma added that the writer,
Mahmoud Joudeh, collected his stories from people’s mouths directly through
word of mouth, which had a strong impact on the hearts of the readers because
they are human experiences that really happened. Its inhabitants are in the
fiercest and most horrific aggression against the Gaza Strip since the Israeli
occupation.
For her part, Amal Siam, Director
of the Women's Affairs Center, said, "Every reader of this collection of
stories will discover the extent of suffering, pain and tears, as well as
steadfastness and patience in facing this brutal aggression that affected
people, stones and trees.
And she added: Mahmoud made us cry
and laugh at the same time. This is the secret of the success of his stories,
which were depicted with humanity and deliberately with sadness and tears.
In his speech, writer Mahmoud
Joudeh welcomed the audience, appreciating their keenness and expressing his
happiness with this human crowd, with which the hall was crowded and could no
longer accommodate.
Joudeh added, “These stories were
picked up directly by their owners during the recent Israeli aggression on the
Gaza Strip in 2014, which left more than 2,200 people, more than 10,000
injured, and more than 20,000 houses were demolished. Many survivors listened
to the horrors of what they saw with their own eyes and heard with their ears.”.

It is worth mentioning that Mahmoud
Jamal Joudeh was born in the city of Rafah and hails from the village of
Ashdod. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Al-Azhar University in
Gaza.
He has many literary articles and
poetic texts published in Arab and international newspapers. The collection of
stories (Orphan Gaza) is a printed literary production for him, as some of the
stories in it have been turned into short films, including

starring Abdel Aziz Makhyoun and directed by Hatem Taj.
