Palestinian fashion designer Nevin Al-Qadi confirmed that Dubai is a shining light for art and fashion, and most international fashion brands hold their shows in Dubai, which is why it has become a global station for fashion and various events.

She added in her interview with Al Bayan: “Dubai is the ideal place for everyone who wants to display their art and creativity. Indeed, Dubai itself has become the first source of creativity.”

Special creativity

Nevin Al-Qadi, who considers herself lucky to have launched from the UAE in 2018 and expanded her offerings, said: “I gave a lecture at Expo 2020 Dubai about my experience combining Palestinian and Sudanese designs, and I was honored there by the High Commission. This lecture was preceded by my participation in the “Modist Fashion Show” international show, which was held in its second session in Dubai, and during the show I presented fashions from fabric designed in cooperation between me and the Egyptian artist Magdy El-Kafrawy.

Creative richness

She continued: “The work came as an expression of my intense love for our Arab identity, and to demonstrate the distinctive creative wealth we possess. I asked the artist Magdy Al-Kafrawi to create a special engraving that I would present with my clothes, and we decided to present the keffiyeh in an innovative way so that I could use it in fashion, so Al-Kafrawi painted it creatively and as a symbol of the dove of peace.”

She added: “I used this fabric in two pieces during the show, which were a modern suit and a soiree dress. This dress was later worn by the Dutch artist Larousse at the Kyle Festival in Dubai. The dress won the admiration of the audience, after it received international resonance in its first show.”

Arabic character

Regarding her new work, Nevin Al-Qadi said: “I am preparing for the Ramadan collection, and because I love celebrating Ramadan, and with the privacy and celebration that this month brings, I held my first fashion show before the Corona pandemic in the month of Ramadan, and I am working in the new collection on the Ramadan uniform consisting of abayas and bashts, which has become Women wear it when going to work, and this has become known as Ramadan fashion.”

She stated: “Because this year Ramadan is in the spring, my collection will be titled “Spring,” and in it I will use light, optimistic colors, such as white, green, rose, and Tiffany.”

Al-Qadi, who displayed her fashions in various cities, including Paris, said: “My fashions were admired by Emirati women who felt proud of every piece they wore, as it carried an Arab character and was handcrafted. I also made sure that it was not traditional and focused on the younger generation in order to let them know that they are what they love.” “International brands, we can create international brands with an Arabic character.” Finally, she pointed to her upcoming show in Algeria, where she will present new ideas.
